According to RMC Sport (h/t GFFN), Morgan Schneiderlin will ‘undergo a medical’ ahead of a ‘transfer’ to OGC Nice. The 30-year-old is ‘returning to France’ after 12 years in Everton. Schneiderlin played for Southampton (2018 – 2015) and Manchester United (2015 – 2017) before spending three years at Goodison Park.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

The French international has made 88 appearances in all competitions for Everton, scoring one goal and making two assists. Schneiderlin was in the last year of his deal and the Toffees clearly wanted to cash in before losing him for nothing in 2021, so Carlo Ancelotti has greenlit his sale.

Schneiderlin has been somewhat of a regular in midfield this season, making 18/34 appearances across the board, but he’s struggled for form and fitness. The 30-year-old has picked up a number of injuries in 2019/20 and hasn’t always set the place alight when he has featured.

Everton have Andre Gomes, Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Fabian Delph, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Tom Davies to call upon, so they won’t miss Schneiderlin. The Frenchman earns £5.2m-a-year/£100k-a-week at Goodison Park too, so he’s not providing value for money. Schneiderlin’s departure will save the club a considerable amount amid a time where their revenue has dropped dramatically.
