Everton ‘reiterate interest’ in 28 y/o, Toffees must ‘disburse €15m’, Brands ‘knows’ player well

According to Goal, Everton have ‘reiterated their interest’ in Santiago Arias and may have to ‘disburse €15m’ to sign the Atletico Madrid defender this summer.

Everton currently have Seamus Coleman, Djibril Sidibe and Jonjoe Kenny at right-back, but Coleman turns 32 in October, Sidibe is only on loan and Kenny wants to stay in Germany next season, so Carlo Ancelotti might need to bring in a new face.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

Thomas Meunier, Emerson, Jesus Corona, Santiago Arias, Ola Aina and Bouna Sarr are on Everton’s radar, but Arias has been linked with a move for some time.

The 28-year-old joined Atleti from PSV Eindhoven in 2018 and gone on to make 46 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal and making three assists. Arias has fallen down the pecking order this season, however, amassing only 986 minutes of football across the board, so he could be moved on.

Kieran Trippier has been a regular at right-back under Diego Simeone and doesn’t appear to be going anywhere this summer, so Everton could capitalise on Arias’ uncertain future. The Colombian international has a €15m asking price, so he wouldn’t break the bank. Goal say he ‘knows’ Marcel Brands from their time at PSV too, so that could help with negotiations.
