According to the Daily Mail, Everton ‘could smash their transfer record’ for Allan this summer. The 29-year-old has ‘fallen out of favour’ at Napoli and could be on his way out in the coming months.

Carlo Ancelotti managed Allan in Italy and wants to renew acquaintances, but his £63m asking price might be a stumbling block – the Brazilian international would surpass the £45m spent on Gylfi Sigurdsson in 2017.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

Everton have Andre Gomes, Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Fabian Delph, Morgan Schneiderlin, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Tom Davies in midfield, but Schneiderlin and Sigurdsson have been tipped to leave this summer while Delph’s future is up in the air following a below-par debut season.

Franck Kessie, Adrien Rabiot, Mohammed Kudus, Morgan Sanson, Geoffrey Kondogbia, Matias Vecino, Davide Frattesi, John McGinn and Idrissa Gueye are reportedly on Everton’s radar, but the links with Allan have been constant.

The 29-year-old has made 203 appearances in all competitions since joining Napoli from Udinese in 2015, scoring 10 goals and making 16 assists. Allan only made 16 Serie A appearances this season and may be offered an escape route by suitors this summer, but it’s hard to see Everton paying so much money to bring him in.

Under Marcel Brands, the Toffees are targeting younger players to develop into first-teamers.
