Report: Everton ‘in pursuit’ of 22 y/o, defender has ‘captured the attention’ of PL rivals too

|

According to 90min, Everton are one of many clubs ‘in pursuit’ of Kristoffer Ajer. The 22-year-old has impressed at Celtic and could be on the move this summer, but 90min say Ajer has also ‘captured the attention’ of Premier League rivals and clubs overseas, so there’s stiff competition for his signature.

Everton are on the hunt for a centre-back to accompany Michael Keane, Yerry Mina, Mason Holgate and Lewis Gibson next season. The Toffees have been linked with Gabriel Magalhaes and Marash Kumbulla in recent weeks, but they may have to beat out Leicester City, Manchester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund to get Ajer.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

The 22-year-old joined Celtic from Start in 2016 and has gone on to make 129 appearances in all competitions. Ajer has been a regular for Celtic and is a regular for the Norwegian national team, amassing 14 caps for his country. He’s racked up a lot of games at a young age for a serial title-winning club, so it’s no surprise suitors are flocking.

90min say Leicester are leading the race for Ajer and have manager Brendan Rodgers as a potential lure, so Everton have a task to bring him to Goodison Park.
