Report: Defender ‘interesting’ Everton, Toffees ‘will pay €22m and €3m in add-ons’ for 20 y/o

According to Sport, Jean-Clair Todibo is ‘interesting’ Everton. The Toffees currently have Michael Keane, Yerry Mina, Mason Holgate and Lewis Gibson at centre-back but are on the hunt for another defender.

Everton have been linked with West Ham United’s Issa Diop, LOSC Lille’s Gabriel Magalhaes and Hellas Verona’s Marash Kumbulla and now have their eyes on Todibo.

The 20-year-old could be on his way out of Barcelona after struggling for playing time. Sport say Everton ‘will pay €22m and €3m in add-ons’ to bring him to Goodison Park.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

Todibo joined Barcelona from Toulouse in January 2019 and has gone on to make five appearances in all competitions. The French U20 international’s lack of playing time at the Camp Nou led to him being loaned out to Schalke 04, where he’s featured eight times across the board.

Everton shouldn’t have a problem negotiating with Barcelona, especially after signing four of their players in the last seven years (Gerard Deulofeu, Lucas Digne, Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes), but Sport admit that the Spaniards would prefer to deal with Juventus.

Barca are trying to sign Miralem Pjanic & Mattia De Sciglio this summer and may include Nelson Semedo and Todibo in any deal with Juve, so Everton will have to hijack the move.
