Report: Everton may have to pay €80m and €1.74m-a-year in wages to sign Portuguese international

According to Correio da Manhã, Everton are interested in Rafa Silva and may have to battle Arsenal for the 27-year-old’s signature this summer. Silva is coming off the back of a prolific campaign at SL Benfica and would improve Everton’s attack, but he won’t come cheap.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

Silva joined Benfica for £14.4m from SC Braga in 2016 and went on to make 125 appearances in all competitions, scoring 35 goals and making 20 assists. The Portuguese international has impressed this season, having a hand in 15 goals in 25 games across the board, so it’s easy to see why Everton are interested.

Carlo Ancelotti has Theo Walcott, Richarlison, Alex Iwobi and Bernard who can operate on the wing, but Walcott has been linked with a move away from Everton this summer while Bernard has been offered out to AS Roma. Even Iwobi came off the back of a disappointing campaign.

The Toffees have been linked with Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard, Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho and Roma’s Cengiz Under, but they may be turning their attentions to Silva. Correio da Manhã say the 27-year-old has an asking price of €80m while Silly Season say his salary is €33.5k-per-week/€1.74m-a-year.
