‘Pure Class’ – Everton women SMASH Tottenham in WSL clash

|

Everton women recorded their 4th win of the Women’s Super League season tonight after beating Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 at Brisbane Road.

The blues had lost 3 WSL games in a row in their previous fixtures, losing to Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal whilst only scoring 1 goal.

With their fixture against Brighton and Hove Albion cancelled last week due to a frozen pitch, Sorensen’s side would have even more time to train ahead of the fixture in London.

Everton, unlike in their previous fixture, would show lots of intent from the off, testing the Tottenham goal very early on.

It would only take 8 minutes for them to find the breakthrough, with Katja Snoeijs tapping in from a Nicoline Sorensen cross.

In-form Jess Park would score her first WSL goal since her goal and assist at Anfield last month, doubling the toffees lead just after the half-hour mark.

The toffees would maintain their pressure even when 2-0 up, constantly looking the most likely to be the next to score, but would go into the break 2-0 up, and deservedly too.

Tottenham would push hard early in the second half in hopes of a comeback, but nothing would prevail.

Ashleigh Neville would be sent off late on after a late tackle on Giovana Queiroz, which the blues would capitalise on quickly.

Quieroz, on loan from Arsenal, would hit a sweet volley from a George cross past Spencer in the Tottenham goal, sealing the win for the blues.

A visit of Durham at Walton Park is next up for the toffees as they look to continue their decent form in the Women’s League Cup.
