Potential blow for Everton as star agrees exit before transfer deal is struck – report

|

Everton’s star midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye could be closer to the exit door than ever before after agreeing on personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain.

The Ligue 1 side have been targeting the Senegalese defensive midfielder as a potential successor to Adrien Rabiot, who is expected to leave the French capital in the summer for free when his contract expires.

La Parisien are now reporting that Gueye has been offered a contract at PSG and he is understood to be happy with the length and wage being proposed, despite the club and Everton failing to agree on a transfer fee yet.

The Toffees are claimed to be holding out for €40million (£35.3m), and the Merseyside outfit’s negotiating stance could well have been strengthened by Marco Verratti sustaining a sprained ankle as his side walked to a comfortable 9-0 win over Guingamp on Saturday.

It would be mad if Everton then took a relaxed stance in losing a player who is extremely key to how the team performs on the pitch, especially as Marco Silva is currently struggling at the helm to oversee consistent results.
