Beni Baningime’s hopes of getting first-team football were already diminished after Andre Gomes joined on a permanent basis, but the recent addition of Fabian Delph could rule out any chance of him featuring for Everton in 2019/20. The 20-year-old may have to seek another loan move away from Goodison Park to get more opportunities next season.

Since rising through the youth ranks to the Everton first-team in 2018, Baningime has made 12 appearances in all competition – amassing 552 minutes of football. Baningime joined Wigan on loan during the second half of last season, but his stint at the DW Stadium didn’t go to plan – the £8k-per-week man made only one appearance in five months.

Everton have Gomes, Delph, Baningime, James McCarthy, Idrissa Gueye, Morgan Schneiderlin, Tom Davies and Muhamed Besic to choose from in midfield ahead of the new season. Marco Silva is likely to offload one or two players as a result. And given Baningime failed to make a single appearance for the Blues last season, it’s hard to see him escaping the axe. A loan move away suits all parties.
