Official: Everton could be without another midfielder ahead of Leicester clash

Everton are suffering a real injury crisis in midfield ahead of Sunday’s meeting with Leicester City, and the Toffees’ latest update suggests Morgan Schneiderlin could miss out against the Foxes too. Marco Silva could be without five players in the engine room as things stand, and admitted in Friday’s pre-match press conference that: “Morgan is a big doubt for the match.”

Jean-Philippe Gbamin is currently sidelined with a quadriceps injury and has been ruled out until 2020 after undergoing surgery. Andre Gomes could be out for the majority of the season after breaking his ankle. Beni Baningime picked up a knock playing for Everton u21s. Fabian Delph hasn’t made a full recovery from a hamstring injury and could miss out over the weekend.

When fit, Schneiderlin has been a regular for Everton, featuring in eight of their 13 Premier League games. The 30-year-old has struggled for consistency this season, but he would be missed in midfield. Silva isn’t blessed with a lot of options and desperately needs experience against a Leicester midfield of Wilfred Ndidi, James Maddison and Youri Tielemans.

Schneiderlin hasn’t been officially ruled out just yet, so he may be given a late fitness test before a decision is made.
