Saturday’s trip to St James’ Park to face Newcastle United looked like it might be the day where Everton’s recent woeful form came to an end and the travelling fans actually had something to shout about.

Two goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison gave Everton a 2-0 lead with just under 15 minutes remaining in the first half, but second half the game turned entirely on its head as the hosts hit back hard and scored three times to send us to another defeat.

With Jordan Pickford’s antics not resulting in a red card, what seemed to be a day in our favour just ended in more massive disappointment and frustration.

Former goalkeeper and Welsh international Neville Southall probably summed up the thoughts of everyone in the fanbase when he took to social media following the match to offer up.

I’m sure he wasn’t alone in that reaction when their third went in.
