Marco Silva has identified his preferred alternative to Everton flop – report

|

Marco Silva has asked the Everton board to chase Roma’s Edin Dzeko, as the Toffees manager seeks improvement on Cenk Tosun, according to reports in Turkish newspaper Star.

The Turkish publication claimed on Monday that Silva has expressed his desire to land the former Manchester City forward, who won the Premier League twice while at Manchester City, as he finally looks to address the club’s failings at landing a leading man in the summer.

Goodison Park has already waved goodbye to one striker this month when Cardiff took Oumar Niasse on loan until the end of the season, and another could soon join the Senegal international in heading out the exit door as the Star also suggested Tosun’s future at the club is nearing an end.

Sam Allardyce had signed the Turkish international from Besiktas a year ago for around £27million, but the Liverpool Echo now believe a £20m price tag would be enough to end his Toffees’ career just 12 months on.

That money would certainly come in handy with Dzeko holding a £20.7million TransferMarkt valuation, and the 32-year-old would be an incredible upgrade on those already on Merseyside.

So far this season, the Bosnia international has scored seven times for his Serie A side, including hitting five in four games in the Champions League.
