Lots of Everton fans have been reacting on social media, after Gazzetta dello Sport claimed Inter Milan midfielder Matias Vecino is nearing a move to Goodison Park.

Vecino has heavily been linked with a move away from the San Siro this month, having fallen out with head coach Antonio Conte and tipped as a potential target for the Toffees, as well as Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

Gazzetta dello Sport note the connections with Spurs in their latest report, claiming Inter had tried to include the Uruguayan in their negotiations over a deal for want-away Denmark international Christian Eriksen.

Inter also mentioned Vecino in negotiations with fellow Serie A side SSC Napoli as they sought the signature of rumoured Everton target Allan, though the Nerazzurri have seemingly been unsuccessful in those ventures.

Instead, Everton have emerged as the leading candidate for Vecino’s signature after the 28-year-old agreed to join Carlo Ancelotti’s efforts on Merseyside, where a four-and-a-half-year contract is said to be waiting for him.

Everton are believed to have only offered €15million (£12.6m) for Vecino despite Inter requesting €20m (£16.8m), which is the fee Director of Football Marcel Brands will likely have to present if we are to sign the box-to-box midfielder this month.

However, a deal is nearing completion after Vecino gave his blessing to a move to the Premier League, and could see his transfer to Everton finalised as soon as Inter complete their bid to sign Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.

Vecino was omitted from Inter’s matchday squad as they drew 1-1 with Cagliari Calcio on Sunday, which was the second successive instance where the 41-cap international was left out of Conte’s Serie A plans.

Here are some of the messages shared as fans reacted to reports that Vecino is open to joining Everton….
