Idrissa Gueye put in a top performance for Everton in Sunday’s 4-0 win over Manchester United and was hailed by supporters on social media after the match. The 29-year-old had a hand in one of Everton’s goals, assisting Gylfi Sigurdsson’s long-range drive, and was dominant in the middle of the park.

Sigurdsson is possibly our most gifted player since Kanchelskis. A mesmerising talent.

Against United, Gueye played 76 minutes before being replaced by James McCarthy. He made 53 touches, 41 passes with 81% accuracy, created two chances, made four tackles, one interception and had a 100% accuracy record with crosses. The Senegalese international was outstanding against Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Fred.
Gueye’s future at Goodison Park is still uncertain. The midfielder tried to leave in January when Paris Saint-Germain came knocking, handing in a transfer request before the deal broken down, but he was praised by Marco Silva for staying focused despite the failed move. He’s likely to have offers from many clubs this summer after another impressive campaign.
The 29-year-old has made two assists in 30 Premier League appearances, making 21 successful dribbles (75%), creating 16 chances and averaging a tackle (130) or interception (66) every 13 minutes. He’d improve the midfield of a lot of sides, but Everton are desperate to hold onto him.
