Everton are in the market for additions during the January transfer window and a number of potential targets have been floating about.
The Sun (11/01, page 53) claimed last week that Everton are eyeing a £15m swoop for Southampton full-back Cedric Soares, providing competition for Seamus Coleman on the right side of the Toffees defence.
While intra-Premier League transfers often leave some fans upset, it seems Southampton supporters would be delighted to see Soares offloaded in the final few weeks of the transfer window after his display in the FA Cup third round replay with Derby County.
The Saints were held to a 2-2 draw against their Championship opponents, with Frank Lampard’s side emerging victorious in a penalty shoot-out, and Soares was singled out for plenty of criticism – with one fan even claiming he would accept a fee as low as £2m for the 27-year-old Portugal international.
We have gathered some of their comments below.
Would’ve taken a fair few Derby players over our players tonight. Sums up the state of #SaintsFC squad atm. Elyounoussi, Cedric, Stephens 🚮

Cedric makes no attempt to stop a cross for the hundredth time in his #saintsfc career. Sell the fraud!

Can’t believe anyone will want to pay money for him, but we need to move Mo on. He offers nothing. Cedric too, for that matter. #SaintsFc
