‘Give us all a happy summer’ – Loads of Toffees fans react as potential target flirts with move

Andre Gomes often has fans brimming with excitement whenever his future comes into question, and now the Portuguese has supporters buzzing online after flirting with the idea of staying on at Goodison Park.

As we all know, Marcel Brands needs to fly out to Barcelona to open firm discussions with the La Liga leaders, as we could not agree on a release clause in the summer.

Reports certainly suggest Gomes will be on the Camp Nou outfit’s chopping block, too, with ESPN claiming the on-loan midfielder is one of a number likely to be sold as part of a $280million (£213m) to $336m (£256m) fundraising mission.

There is no figure quoted by ESPN like Marca have previously when €40m (£34.2m) was touted around, but a lot of the money Barcelona are said to be seeking would likely come through the departure of Coutinho.

Gomes, himself, has long been seen as a potential stumbling block in any negotiations to retain his services, too, as his preference will play a great deal into where he will be next term.

The 29-cap Portugal international’s recent words to EvertonTV, however, hint that the Gomes aspect could be swinging into our corner.

“There is a first impact when you start in the Premier League, it is a massive league, with a lot of big teams,” Gomes said. “Every game is a challenge. I am enjoying it more because I am feeling more what the Premier League is about and adapting to it.

“I am really happy to play here and I think the rest we had after the Chelsea game was important. After beating Chelsea, we wanted to keep playing the next weekend, but I think the break was good, to have more training sessions and get ready for the next game.

“I think we prepared well and you saw it in the way we played at West Ham, and we were really happy with that.”
