Former Chelsea striker rejects Everton move

|

Former Arsenal and Chelsea striker, Olivier Giroud was handed an offer to join Everton late in the January window, but the Frenchman has rejected it, according to recent reports

Everton confirmed the appointment of former Burnley manager, Sean Dyche after the sacking of Frank Lampard, with the Englishman’s side sitting 19th in the Premier League after 20 games.

Despite sitting in joint bottom of the Premier League and teams around them strengthening their squad as much as they can, the toffees are yet to make a signing during the transfer window.

Going into the window, it was widely believed that Everton would need to bring in 2 attackers in order to have a chance of surviving relegation. However, with less than an hour to complete any deals, they look no closer to getting anyone through the door.

According to Calciomercato, Everton made a late bid in an attempt to sign AC Milan striker, Olivier Giroud. However, the Frenchman rejected the potential move back to the Premier League.

The report suggests that Everton offered Giroud £3.5 million to come to Goodison Park, including a bonus of £2 million if the club were to survive relegation.

With Anthony Gordon leaving the club on the weekend, Everton are now in real trouble of exiting the transfer window with a weaker squad than when they entered it.

Sean Dyche was supposably promised 2 or 3 signings before the closure of the transfer window in order to bolster his squad. However, it looks as if he will not be getting a single player through the door.

The club’s future in the Premier League is looking less and less possible as time ticks by.
