Everton board. Silence is NOT an option! We need answers

|

The transfer window has closed and Everton are the only team in the Premier League not to strengthen this window.

Farhad Moshiri said in an interview last week

“We need a striker… we’ll get one. We’ll strengthen the team and I have no doubt the second half of the season will be stronger.”

In the summer, Moshiri asked the fans to “judge us at the end of the transfer window – not now”. In two separate transfer windows now, Everton’s ‘owner’ who only last week said he wasn’t in charge of making the important decisions has lost the support of the fans and is now just as bad as Bill Kenwright.

In the summer we lost one of the main reasons we stayed in the league last season in Richarlison. We didn’t replace him adequately. Dwight McNeil who was linked with a move to Everton before the start of last season was a long-term target so he was not his replacement.

We went into the season with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Salomon Rondon as the two options in attack and in typical Everton fashion, DCL got injured on the eve of the new season yet it took Everton 5 games to get a striker in which they got Neal Maupay. Everton’s third-choice target behind Armando Borja and Che Adams.

In the opening 5 games, we dropped points which could be the difference in Everton staying in the league this season and that is down to the board and the lack of vision at the club. Everton should not have gone into the season with no plan B in attack, especially with DCL’s injury record last season.

During this current window when Frank Lampard was sacked, it was reported on Twitter by TheBobble that

Sean Dyche and Marcelo Bielsa were both told in interviews that Anthony Gordon would be leaving Everton Football Club but were reassured that two incomings would be coming into the club

Gordon was sold over the weekend when Dyche was at Finch Farm waiting to be announced and it should have been during the interview process that he and Kevin Thelwell drew up a shortlist of players that he wanted, so that when he was announced on Monday (5 hours after SkySports) signings could then start coming through the door, but once again. In typical Everton fashion, none of that seems to of happened as we have finished the window another player down and not even looked like singing anyone.

Sean Dyche has to work with the squad he’s fallen upon and on paper, it should not be in the bottom three in my opinion. A spine of Pickford, Godfrey, Tarkowski, Coady, Onana, Gueye and Calvert-Lewin should be top 10. The players have no belief at the moment and hopefully, Dyche can get the confidence back into this crop of players and we do what Eddie Howe did last season with Newcastle United.

Newcastle brought in Kieran Trippier and Bruno Guimarães in January and he worked with the squad he had and they flew up the league due to the players having a belief in themselves due to Eddie Howe and we just need to hope that Dyche can have a similar effect on Everton and we at the very least survive the drop and in the summer we get rid of more deadwood (Yerry Mina, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Michael Keane)

Up next we play Arsenal on Saturday and the current protests against the board mustn’t stop as we the fans will follow this club up and down the country in whatever league they are in, whereas this current board will jump ship at the first chance they get.
