Well, this is a bizarre one – then again the reasons some Everton fans seem to like the suggestion is based on a bizarre comment as well. I’m going to assume it’s not true.
According to Argentine outlet TyC Sports (via sportwitness we are being linked with Boca Juniors defensive midfielder Wilmar Barrios. The name has featured on the rumour mill before this summer but there wasn’t a lot of concrete details in it, so I flat out ignored it.
Barrios is the Colombian international who headbutted Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson in that clash at this summer’s World Cup out in Russia, and surprisingly that has gone down extremely well with some in the fanbase!
TyC report that the President of Boca Juniors received a telephone call last Friday from a Premier League club over the future services of the player and it was originally believed it was either Tottenham Hotspur or Chelsea – but it’s now being suggested the call was in fact from Goodison Park.
The international player is said to have a release clause of around 18million Euros, which is about £16million but the presumption is he could be available for less if we let them keep him until the January window.
It seems contrived and far-fetched to me as the Henderson link is just too tasty from a press sensationalism link – but some have had some fun with it.
Diclaimer – Vital Everton does not condone violence.
It’s as good a reason as any.

These are the type os signing Brands will make, young with a sell on value. Liverpool and FSG are perfecting it, it’s a great long term strategy for anyone below the European mega money teams.
