Farhad Moshiri’s bluff called after open letter to Evertonians

|

Critics of Everton’s owner Farhad Moshiri have called his bluff after recalling his message to fans at the end of last season’s campaign, with the club sitting firmly in the relegation zone after half of the season has already been played.

At the end of last season, with Everton narrowly escaping relegation to the Championship by only a couple of points, owner Farhad Moshiri sent a letter to all Evertonians addressing what went wrong during the campaign.

Moshiri stated in the letter that he thought the club’s strategic review had been a success, with Kevin Thelwell appointed as Director of Football as well as Frank Lampard being appointed as first team manager.

He also stated that he was grateful for the support of the fans during the tough time and would “repay that support and show that lessons have been learnt” [via EvertonFC.com]

However, after 18 matches of the new Premier League season, the toffees currently sit 18th in the table with just 3 wins to their name.

Although the personnel at the club have changed slightly from last season, it seems to have had little effect on recent results.

It seems as if Frank Lampard might lose his job if performances and results fail to improve any time soon, leading to the inevitable assumption that Moshiri and his board of directors have failed to learn anything from last season’s campaign and have ultimately been put in a worse situation because of it.

It is clear that something needs to change at the club quite quickly and it is up to the board to make that change. If they are to have learnt anything from last season, we will see improvements over the coming weeks, both on and off the pitch. If not, Everton might be facing a future in the Championship.
