Everton reserve goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic is in talks to join Major League Soccer side Los Angeles FC, according to reports.

The 38-year-old who departed Leicester City in the summer joined the Toffees on a short-term deal, which expires at the end of this month.

Everton moved for the former Hull City keeper earlier in the season following injuries to first choice goalie Jordan Pickford as well as the third choice, Andy Lonergan.

Fortunately, the Switzerland international has never been called into action during his brief time at Goodison Park, and has been named as a substitute on just one occasion, during Everton’s 1-0 win over West Ham United back in September, when Asmir Begovic started for the Blues.

Jakupovic is an experienced international, with stints at Leicester City and Hull City, as well as Grasshoppers, Lokomotiv Moscow, and Olympiacos, amongst others.

He will be made available to pursue as a free transfer at the end of the month as Everton look to cut some of the peripheral figures within the squad, and Los Angeles FC have expressed a strong interest, with their number 1 currently unavailable with a broken leg sustained in the MLS Cup final against Philadelphia Union in November.

The move would see Jakupovic link up with the likes of Gareth Bale, Carlos Vela and Giorgio Chellini with the MLS Cup holders attracting some big names in recent seasons.

Meanwhile, Everton’s January priorities with regards to in-comings must focus on the side’s attacking output, with a lack of creativity and goals a real cause for concern for Frank Lampard’s side.

Everton have scored 1 goal per game since Premier League football resumed following the World Cup in Qatar, but 2 of those have been from a set piece (1 corner, 1 penalty), with Demarai Gray’s strike against Manchester City the solitary goal scored from open play so far.
