Explained: How has Idrissa Gueye fared at Paris Saint-Germain since leaving Everton?

|

Idrissa Gueye starred as Paris Saint-Germain enjoyed a 1-0 win over Galatasaray in Tuesday’s Champions League clash, maintaining his 100% record since joining from Everton over the summer. The 30-year-old was making his seventh appearance for PSG and has been on the winning side every time.

In Ligue 1, the Parisians sit pretty at the summit with 18 points from eight games. Thomas Tuchel’s side have conceded just four goals this season and boast five clean sheets from their last six matches. PSG have been flawless in Europe too, boasting back-to-back wins over Real Madrid and Galatasaray. Gueye has certainly played his part in their early success.

The Senegalese international has racked up 450 minutes of Ligue 1 football, making nine chances, averaging 84.8 passes-per-game with a 91% completion rate, winning eight aerial duels (73%), having a 40% dribble success rate and averaging a tackle (16) or interception (11) every 16 minutes.

Gueye has taken little time to get settled in France and is one of the best performing midfielders in the division. Everton did well to replace him with Fabian Delph, Andre Gomes and Jean-Philippe Gbamin, but Gueye looks on another level at PSG.
