Everton midfielder, Jess Parks made her debut for the Lionesses last night in their 4-0 victory over Japan, impressing with a goal despite only spending two minutes on the pitch.

Park signed for the blues during the summer transfer window, on loan from Manchester City for the season.

She made her debut for the toffees in their first game of the season, falling to a narrow 1-0 defeat to West Ham. However, she would put in a match-winning performance in the Merseyside Derby in the next fixture, scoring one and assisting one in a 3-0 win.

Despite not managing any more goal contributions so far this season, the 21-year-old has put in some very strong performances in the Women’s Super League, leading to the Lionesses manager, Sarina Wiegman calling her up the England national squad for their friendlies against Japan and Norway.

It was pretty evident that Park would not break straight into the starting squad, but she was brought off the bench with two minutes to play.

Houston Dash’s Ebony Salmon would do well to win the ball back high up the pitch, before crossing the ball to Jess Park in the box, taking a touch out of her feet before finishing into the empty net.

In an interview with ITV after the game, Park said [via Belfast Telegraph]:

“I’m a bit overwhelmed at the minute. It’s absolutely amazing. I’m so honoured to be able to play for my country and to score a goal. I’ve dreamed of this since I was a little girl and it’s come true.”

Park has surely given herself a fighting chance of starting in the lionesses’ next fixture against Norway next week in the lead-up to the start of their World Cup qualification process.
