Everton will face Manchester United at Old Trafford in the FA Cup 3rd round tomorrow with Frank Lampard’s job reportedly on the line. The toffees will need to break their 9-year curse if they want to keep their gaffer in charge.

Lampard’s side were knocked out of the League Cup last month in the 3rd round after losing 3-0 to Bournemouth, leaving the FA Cup the only other potential trophy up for grabs for this season.

The blues made it to the last 8 of the FA Cup last season after beating Boreham Wood in the Fifth round. However, they would be knocked out of the competition by Crystal Palace, with the Eagles battering them 4-0 at Selhurst Park.

Everton faced Hull City in round 3 last season, winning the game 3-2 thanks to a stunning strike from Andros Townsend. However, their 3rd round opponents this season will put up a much stronger fight.

Old Trafford hasn’t been a place of much success for the toffees in recent years. Everton last won against United on their travels back in 2013, with Bryan Oviedo scoring a late winner to hand Roberto Martinez’ Everton all 3 points in their hunt for Champions League football.

Manchester United will be fancying themselves going into the fixture given the contradiction between the two side’s recent form.
