All together now… Everton fans have had enough.

Yesterday Everton fan sites have joined together with NSNOW in an open letter to Farhad Moshiri demanding change at the boardroom level and here at Vital Everton, we have joined in as we also demand change.

When Farhad Moshiri took over in February 2016 there was a sense of optimism amongst fans, could Everton now with a billionaire owner break into the elusive top 4 and get back to the good old days of the eighties.

Since the introduction of Moshiri’s billions, the club have spent over half a billion on players and are much worse as a football club than before he took over. 12 players have been bought for over £25M with a further 6 players bought for over £20M. Seven of those are still in our current squad, with six of those all released at the end of their contracts.

Questions have been asked for years by fans as to who buys the players. Since Moshiri’s arrival, we are on our third director of football in only 7 years. Steve Walsh was the first and he was just a scout that got lucky at Leicester, in came Marcel Brands.

A director of football at PSV, it seemed like the club had actually appointed someone who knew what he was doing and in his first summer in charge (2018) we saw the arrivals of Lucas Diane, Yerry Mina, Andre Gomes, Bernard and Richarlison.

However, in December of 2021, Brands left his role at the club and has since opened up about the impossible tasks he faced when at Everton, a DoF’s job is to implement a philosophy at the football club and have a major part in who is in charge of the team and how to improve with what players something that Brands says he was not able to do because of the people on charge above him.

“I was fighting to make a player contract of 50,000 a week 45,000 a week because that fit better in the wage structure and matched the quality of the player,” Brands added.

“And then the owner called, saying that he had been sitting with another player and that he could come for 175,000 a week. Then you say: ‘What’s that going to do in the dressing room? He earns three times as much as the others.’ – Forbes

Now with Kevin Thelwell in charge, things need to change at the club starting with people that should not be anywhere near our football club, and the first person that needs to go is the “biggest blue” of them all, Bill Kenwright.

Since he sold the club to Farad Moshiri, he has kept his role at the club as Chairman and still has a big say in the running of the club. He was in attendance during Tuesday nights thrashing but was seen leaving his seat when the second goal went in and when the goals kept going in, the fans instead of turning solely on Frank Lampard, turned to Bill Kenwright and his friends at boardroom level.

Since then we have seen multiple news outlets beginning to speak out about what is happening at Everton and on Match of the Day, Ian Wright without hesitation said it perfectly whilst another former blue Leon Osman looked sheepish when Wright calls out the Everton board.

Ian Wright and Alan Shearer have both called out the Everton hierarchy this week but one person in particular who has called out Bill Kenwright for what he is like is former Everton defender Alan Stubbs on BBC radio 5Live,

“Mr Kenwright, he tries to keep you quiet by not allowing you into the games. Unofficially that is.”

Enough is enough, and it is about time WE the fans take a stand and demand answers from Farhad Moshiri, and it is great to see so many news outlets giving us the platform to out the people that need to be weeded out of our once great club.
