Everton still have work to do despite impressing in spells after Marco Silva’s arrival in the summer and further activity is expected to occur within the transfer market.
The Toffees spent heavily prior to the start of the campaign to bring the likes of Richarlison, Yerry Mina and Lucas Digne to Goodison Park, while loan deals for Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma and Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes were also secured.
Both loanees have impressed during their stint at Everton so far and many fans have called for the pair to be signed on a permanent basis, which would significantly bolster the squad’s depth and ability.
However, of the pair, Gomes is the most important as he has quickly settled into Everton’s midfield and it is an area where further changes could be on the cards as Idrissa Gueye is heavily linked with a January move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Therefore, Silva risks losing both of his starting midfielders if a permanent deal for Gomes is not secured and that could knock the Toffees back a few steps in their plans to rebuild.
