Everton ‘monitoring’ loanee, Brands ‘made personal checks’, ‘all parties’ will soon sit down

|

According to The Athletic, Everton are ‘monitoring Jonjoe Kenny’s progress’. Marcel Brands has ‘made personal checks’ on the 23-year-old and ‘all parties’ are expected to sit down to clarify his future when the Bundesliga season comes to a close.

Kenny is currently on loan at Schalke 04 and has five games left to play until the campaign is over. He’s open to staying in Germany for another campaign and Schalke haven’t hidden their desire to sign the Englishman, but Everton may need Kenny if they don’t sign Djibril Sidibe permanently this summer.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

After falling down the pecking order, Kenny was loaned out to Schalke last summer and has gone on to make 30 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal and making three assists.

The 23-year-old has been a regular under David Wagner and has fared well overall, but it seems Everton still need convincing. The Toffees have been linked with Adam Marusic, Ola Aina, Emerson, Santiago Arias and Bouna Sarr, so Kenny’s future at Goodison Park is uncertain.

The Athletic say Everton could yet retain him next season, but they’re also evaluating other players who could join  Seamus Coleman.
