Everton midfielder has ‘minor injury’ ahead of Liverpool clash, player missed training sessions

|

According to Liverpool Echo, Andre Gomes has a ‘minor injury’ ahead of Everton’s meeting with Liverpool on Sunday, June 21. The 26-year-old’s issue hasn’t been reported by Everton, but it’s caused him to miss a number of training sessions in the week.

Liverpool Echo say Gomes is expected to be back in training next week, so he should be able to build up his fitness in time to face Liverpool. Jean-Philippe Gbamin won’t be available to Carlo Ancelotti after undergoing surgery this summer, so Everton may have a depleted midfield ahead of the Merseyside derby.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

Gomes initially joined the Toffees from Barcelona in 2018 and went on to make 29 appearances in all competitions. The Portuguese international turned his move permanent in 2019 but made only 12 appearances across the board after fracturing his leg.

He recovered in February and is building up his fitness ahead of Everton’s final nine games of the campaign following the three-month break from football. Gomes will be key for the Blues given the lack of fit midfielders, but even he isn’t 100%. Liverpool have won 27 of 29 league games this season, so Ancelotti can’t afford to have a depleted squad.

Can we even put 11 men on the field atbthis point. We had a cpl injuries before the lockdown, big ones aswell where we thought we touched lucky as well have mina gbamin delph coleman gomes iwobi bernard back fully fit and some how weve came out of this in a worse position than we started. I know are season is finished and its a rite of from here on out, but i foolishly assumed we would go into next season fully prepared fully fit, full squaud ready to go with no new injuries. I couldnt of been more wrong. That said carlo as already called a few youngins up to train with the lads get good look first hand over our future prospects.
