Everton welcomed Newcastle United to Goodison Park for the midweek Premier League clash yesterday evening, and although we took a point from the game, plenty will believe it should’ve been more.

Salomon Rondon opened the scoring for the visitors and they did test England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was tested four more times. Everton’s own performance saw them take 76% of the possession and we racked up well over double the chances overall across, our problem was we only got three efforts on target.

We did, however, equalise in the first half through Richarlison with the score ending one apiece.

Statistics website Whoscored gave our goalscorer their Man of the Match with a rating of 7.47.

Ever-reliable Lucas Digne came second and the top five were completed by Ademola Lookman, Andre Gome and Pickford himself.

Not the result people had hoped for, but Newcastle had shown improvement of late so weren’t going to be walkovers and I guess manager Marco Silva will be taking the positives from so many chances created, as on another day, with more composure or luck, that could’ve easily been a four or five goal game.
