Brian Sorensen’s side have fallen to their 3rd defeat of the Women’s Super League season, losing 3-0 to league leaders Manchester United at Walton Park.

The toffees have been on a decent run of form lately, losing just 1 of their last 5 games in all competitions. They had also won their previous game on penalties against Aston Villa in the cup, with the game ending 1-1 after 90 minutes.

Although they would go into the fixture in good form, the blues would still be considered very much the underdogs. Former Orlando Pride manager, Marc Skinner’s United side have been in unbelievable form lately, winning all 4 of their opening league games without conceding a single goal, leaving them top of the table at this early stage.

The red devils started the game on the front foot and would be rewarded very quickly for their hard work. Everton academy graduate and former FWA Women’s Player of the Year, Nikita Parris would give them the lead after just 13 minutes.

The toffees would go into half-time 1-0 down but they could have easily gone into the break level, with Gabrielle George missing a glorious chance late in the half.

They would be punished 10 minutes into the second half, with Leah Galton rolling her shot past Brosnan in the Everton goal to double their lead.

Everton would again have chances to pull a goal back, but their pressure would not pay off.

Welsh international, Hayley Ladd would put the game beyond the blue’s reach, coolly slotting the ball home, handing her side a deserved 3 points and sustaining their perfect start to the season.

Sorensen and his squad will be hoping to bounce back in their next WSL fixture, a trip to London to face Tottenham Hotspur before the international break.
