Everton’s winning streak at Goodison Park came to an end on Wednesday evening as Newcastle United held the Toffees to a 1-1 draw.
Salomon Rondon gave the visitors the lead before Richarlison’s equaliser saved Everton from defeat, although the general consensus is that a better result should have been achieved – especially with tough challenges against Manchester City and Tottenham on the horizon.
With a feeling that the result saw Everton drop two points, many supporters took to social media after the match to urge their side to spend in January to bring a new striker to the club – with the feeling that a top-six finish will be difficult to secure without one.
Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Ademola Lookman possess the capability of creating opportunities but without a recognised centre-forward leading the line chances are likely to continue to go begging for Marco Silva’s side.
We have gathered some of the post-match comments from Everton fans below.
I am 100% certain that Marcel Brands has been told to procure a top quality striker in January.
I'm equally sure he will do that.
He is the man who can.#EFC— 🌊 Paul Downes 🇺🇦 (@CallmeDownsie) December 6, 2018

Very frustrating. Still positive though for Silva's blues, get a top class Striker in and we will fly #EFC

Tonight's match was very much a sobering for supporters. The top 6 is not within reach this season. Without a quality striker then games like that will continue to happen and that is the difference between challenging and finishing 7th. #EFC

Seems clear that 76% possession + quality striker = wins. Go sort it Brands. #efc
