Everton loanee, Nathan Broadhead has today been announced as Player of the Month at Wigan Athletic in only his second month at the club since joining in the summer transfer window.

Broadhead won the award of October’s Player of the Month after scoring 2 goals in his side’s 7 games in October, perhaps not a majorly impressive stat but for a side struggling in the Championship currently, you have to put in good performances in order to score goals.

The 24-year-old would spend the second half of last season on loan in the North East with Sunderland in League one, helping the club to promotion from League 1 with 13 goals including some very important winners. He was not able to play in the play-off final against Wycombe through injury but his goals certainly put his side on the right track after going through a rough patch prior.

Broadhead was heavily linked to a move back to Sunderland either on loan or as a permanent deal, but the deal ended up falling through due to multiple reasons, including Everton striker, Ellis Simms filling one of the loan spots in the club and the early departure of manager, Alex Neill to Stoke City.

The Welshman eventually ended up leaving EFC on loan to join Wigan Athletic, where he is now beginning to find his feet, slowly becoming a fan favourite.

The 24-year-old signed a contract in the summer keeping him at the club until 2024, but with manager, Frank Lampard seemingly looking to build his squad with a stronger core, it looks as if Broadhead does not have a future back at Everton. It would be no surprise if the club ended up ‘cashing in’ on the forward in the summer.
