The likes of Correire dello Sport have revealed in 2020 that Everton maintain an interest in AS Roma defender Chris Smalling and it seems as though the Blues are going to have to be patient in the battle to try and bring him in.

Indeed, the most recent report concerning the England international comes from the Daily Mail, with them claiming that the centre-half is going to be patient before making a decision on his future.

Currently on loan in Italy’s Serie A with AS Roma from Premier League side Manchester United, the defender has impressed this season during his time on the continent.

Indeed, he has done well to shake the criticism that he received during his spell at Old Trafford and, though still contracted to the club, it looks as though he has several interested parties in him.

According to the Mail, the likes of Arsenal, Leicester City and Spurs are all taking a look at him at the moment and, that in mind, Smalling is putting any decision on his future on hold until at least the summer – though with things the way they are the window could open even later.

Clearly, then, the waiting game could well need to be played by the Toffees but at least it seems as though no side is going to steal a march on the player and he’ll make his decision in due course.

If the Blues want him, they’ll have to make their offer more attractive than the several others interested in him.
