Everton linked with move for powerful defender

|

According to Takvim in Turkey, Everton are among the clubs looking at powerful defender Christian Luyindama ahead of the summer window.

The 26-year-old stands at 6ft 3in and weighs 91kg so you can get an idea of the sort of player he could be if he signed for the Blues.

Alongside someone like Yerry Mina, the Blues would have a real wall down the middle of the defence but, of course, he needs to be more than just a player that can with a physical challenge.

Linked with West Ham by the report, too, the Galatasary defender is said to be available for €15million (£13.6m) and so perhaps wouldn’t break the bank, though you obviously want to see the club pay good money if it means the player is going to have a positive impact.

Interestingly, he’s currently injured having sustained a cruciate ligament rupture and so whether that impacts any move remains to be seen, with it important that – whenever next season starts – the Blues are fully fit because Carlo Ancelotti is going to want to be ambitious and have his players getting in and around the opposition.

That injury in mind, Luyindama has only played 10 times this season for Gala over in Turkey, and so, as well as assessing his ability, the club will need to do a full dive into just how fit he is and whether he’ll have injury issues to come, with his physical presence in mind.
