This morning we reported that Championship striker Viktor Gyökeres had attracted interest from Everton. Since then, various journalists have reported that Everton also have their eye on Stade Rennais striker Serhou Guirassy.

With the imminent arrival of Arnaud Kalimuendo from PSG, Fabrice Hawkins  reported today that Everton are after the French striker. With Fabrice Hawkins suggesting that Everton have already tried a loan bid, with an option to buy. However, Stade Rennais would prefer a permanent move.

Guirassy would be the ideal backup for Dominic Calvert-Lewin. He is quick off the mark, a good finisher, good in the air and can lead the line on his own. Since moving to Stade Rennais from Amiens SC in 2020 he has gone on to score 25 goals in 80 games, averaging a goal every third game.

If you have watched his YouTube highlights, I know what you’re thinking. He is the next Kevin Campbell!

If Kevin Thelwell and Frank Lampard can agree on a deal with the French outfit, I believe a loan would be the best deal for Everton, and with Calvert-Lewin’s injury record over the last 12 months, we are yet to see if he is going to be the 20 goal a season striker we need, or is he going to continue to pick up injuries every few months.

Would you take a risk on the Frenchman?
