Everton in talks to send £34m man out on loan, only one reason why – opinion

Henry Onyekuru is very much a man in demand with regular reports touting clubs from around Europe as interested parties in the race for his signature.

The latest of which has come from Turkey, where Sporx are claiming that Galatasaray are currently in discussions with Everton officials in the hopes of keeping the talented winger at the Turk Telekom Arena for another year.

Our Nigerian is considered to be one of their top targets for next season, but if we are not willing to allow the 7-cap international to stay with the Super Lig giants, they will turn their attention to RB Leipzig’s Bruma.

Financial restrictions will ensure that the current Champions League qualifying side cannot pursue both of their targets, and Everton allowing Faith Terim to retain our unseen man would suggest we have failed to secure his UK work permit again.

If Onyekuru was in line to play for us next season, it would make no sense why the club would even be in discussions with Galatasaray over another loan move – if the report is accurate, at least – especially when you consider the other rumours circulating regarding the 21-year-old.

Paris Saint-Germain are understood to be preparing a £20million offer for his signature in the summer, while Bayern Munich are said to have made contact with Marcel Brands in recent days, to which he slapped a €40million (£34m) price tag on his head.

To now be in discussions over a potential loan move again surely suggests a lack of UK work permit, otherwise selling to one of the potential bidders would be the logical next step.
