As per BBC Sport, Everton ‘hope to welcome back’ Gylfi Sigurdsson against Arsenal. The 30-year-old has been out of action due to illness, causing him to miss Everton’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United (December 15) and EFL Cup defeat to Leicester City (December 18), but he appears to be on the recovery trail which is good news for Duncan Ferguson.

Everton’s caretaker manager has an injury crisis in midfield which has limited his options in recent weeks. Mason Holgate has been forced to play in a makeshift role alongside Tom Davies due to Jean-Philippe Gbamin (thigh), Andre Gomes (ankle), Fabian Delph (hamstring) and Morgan Schneiderlin (calf) being sidelined.

Whether Sigurdsson is fit to start against Arsenal remains to be seen, however. Ferguson might have to select Dennis Adeniran and Anthony Gordon if the Icelandic international is unavailable. Time will tell. But despite having so many players injured, Everton are in better form of late.

The Toffees have one win and two draws (in 90 minutes) from their last three games and host an Arsenal side with only one league win since October.

What will the result be vs Arsenal on Saturday?
