Everton will be without six players ahead of Wednesday night’s EFL Cup quarter-final clash with Leicester City – Jean-Philippe Gbamin (thigh), Andre Gomes (ankle), Fabian Delph (hamstring), Theo Walcott (calf), Morgan Schneiderlin (calf), Lucas Digne (groin).
Djibril Sidibe (illness) and Gylfi Sigurdsson (illness) are doubtful and could return in time, however.
How will Everton fare against Leicester City?
Gbamin had surgery on his quadriceps and isn’t expected to return until early-2020. The 24-year-old only joined over the summer and made just two appearances before picking up the injury. He hasn’t featured since mid-August.
Gomes broke his ankle and is hoping to be back before the season comes to a close. The 26-year-old only joined permanently over the summer and made eight appearances before his injury. His last Everton outing came in their 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur (November 3).
Schneiderlin and Walcott aren’t expected to return before the new year. The pair have been ruled out for two and three weeks respectively.
Delph is nearing a return but he won’t be ready to face Leicester. He should be back in action later this month. Sidibe and Sigurdsson are likely to follow once they’ve overcome their respective illnesses.
Digne’s return date is up in the air, however, as the severity of his groin strain is unknown.
