Everton Have Strong Interest in World Cup Star

|

Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus shone for Ghana during the World Cup in Qatar, and it is no secret that the attacker has been on Everton’s radar recently, with reports now suggesting that the Toffees have the strongest interest out of the Premier League clubs.

Guardian writer Al-Smith claims, “For Ghana, the absolute star of this World Cup has been Mohammed Kudus and we know that three Premier League clubs are interested, with Everton being one of the strongest.”

The 22-year-old was linked with a move to Goodison Park throughout the summer transfer window, and a deal for the Ghanaian international looked likely, but ultimately failed to materialize. He is a player seemingly high on Frank Lampard’s wish list and landing the forward would certainly be a statement of intent from the club.

Indeed, Kudus’ performances in Qatar emphasized why he is so high on Lampard’s agenda, with the Ajax star subsequently linked with countless European giants such as Real Madrid and Barcelona. Closer to home, Newcastle and Liverpool have both reportedly expressed an interest in the forward as well, so hearing that Everton potentially lead the way for his signature will be music to Evertonian ears.

The youngster is likely to command a sizable fee from Ajax however, as his current deal with the Dutch giants running until the summer of 2025, and if they are to cash in on the prodigious talent, they will no doubt look to start a bidding war, which may potentially price Everton out of a deal should clubs with greater financial clout enter the fray.

Kudus scored 2 goals at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, both of which came in Ghana’s 3-2 win over South Korea. He has 10 goals in 47 appearances for Ajax and in September scored his first Champions League goal in a 4-0 win over Glasgow Rangers.
