Everton have an injury doubt ahead of their FA Cup meeting with Liverpool. The Toffees confirm that Fabian Delph has suffered a “knock to the knee” and will need to be assessed ahead of Sunday’s clash. The 30-year-old had a scan in the week and looks likely to play over the weekend, but Carlo Ancelotti won’t want to take a risk if he’s not 100%.
The Blues manager said: “We had a problem with Fabian Delph, he had a knock on his knee. He had a scan (on Thursday), it seems good but we will see.”
How will Everton fare against Liverpool?
Win
Draw
Lose
Delph has made 14 appearances in all competitions this season but has missed 11 games across the board due to various injuries. The England international was absent for Everton’s 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace (August 10, 2019), 1-0 win over Watford (August 17) and 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa (August 23) due to a groin injury.
He also missed the Blues’ 2-0 win over West Ham United (October 19) with a knock. Delph’s biggest layout, however, saw him sidelined for Everton’s 2-1 win over Southampton (November 9), 2-0 defeat to Norwich City (November 23), 2-1 defeat to Leicester City (December 1), 5-2 defeat to Liverpool (December 4), 3-1 win over Chelsea (December 7) and 1-1 draw with Manchester United (December 15) with a muscle injury.
Time will tell if he’s passed fit to face Liverpool. If not, Mason Holgate, Tom Davies, Morgan Schneiderlin and Gylfi Sigurdsson will be available.
