Official: Fabian Delph injury update

|

Everton have confirmed that Fabian Delph pulled out of the England squad due to a muscle injury. The 29-year-old picked up the knock against Burnley on Saturday and will be looked at by Everton’s medical staff before an official diagnosis is made.

Since joining from Manchester City over the summer, Delph has gone on to make seven appearances in all competitions. The England international has been on the winning team just three times and has been part of an Everton side coming off the back of four consecutive league defeats.

Marco Silva’s men are currently 18th in the Premier League table with seven points from eight games. Everton have a two-week wait before their next game (West Ham United on October 19) but may be forced into a squad change due to Delph’s injury.

Andre Gomes, Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Tom Davies and Morgan Schneiderlin should be available for selection against West Ham if the 29-year-old is out of action. Everton can’t afford any more slip-ups. The Toffees haven’t won in the league since September 1 and have conceded nine goals from the four games that followed.

As for Delph, it remains to be seen whether he’ll return after the international break.
