Everton duo’s return could be vital in their fight against relegation

|

Everton duo James Garner and Andros Townsend have returned to individual training after both picking up long-term injuries. They both could play vital roles in maintaining Everton’s Premier League status.

Before picking up a season-ending injury against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup back in March 2022, Andros Townsend was one of Everton’s most important players.

He scored a very impressive 7 goals in his opening 18 games for the toffees, including some important goals such as a winner versus Hull City in the FA Cup and an equaliser at Old Trafford, earning his side an important point on the road.

Although he struggled for consistent game time after Frank Lampard’s appointment, his side seemingly struggled for goals considerably more after Townsend sustained his injury.

James Garner, on the other hand, has struggled to make an impact for Everton since signing from Manchester United in the summer, playing only 7 games for the toffees so far.

However, when he has appeared for Frank Lampard’s side he has been one of Everton’s star performers.

With Idrissa Gana-Gueye and Alex Iwobi struggling to impress in recent weeks, it would not be surprising if Garner starts to get more game time in the near future.

The pair are now close to returning to first-team training, with both beginning individual work on their roads to recovery this week.

Let us know your thoughts on whether Garner and Townsend deserve a place in the Everton line-up when they, eventually, make their return to the squad…
