Everton close to completing cut-price transfer for fan favourite – report

|

Marco Silva has made it be known that the club are keen to keep Andre Gomes at Everton beyond his loan from Barcelona, and a report by Sport suggests a deal is close.

The Spanish publication are now reporting that the Camp Nou club are near to finalising the sale of the Portuguese international, and consider the Toffees as the best-placed club in the race for his signature.

Even better news for those of you who are keen to see the 25-year-old remain at the club is that the price being quoting in Catalunya is also lower than the previously expected €40million (£34.7m) that Marca had been reporting.

It is now believed that we are willing to offer the La Liga outfit somewhere between €25m (£21.7m) to €30million (£26m) to complete a deal, but there is also another club said to be close behind, although it’s not clear who that is.

If the price is what Sport suggest rather than their Madrid counterpart’s valuation, the deal for the fan favourite would be a far more attractive acquisition for us to make.

However, without knowing who the other interested club is, the report could be seen as a bargaining tool for Barcelona to drive the price up.
