‘I wouldn’t say we are lucky’ – These Everton fans have been discussing summer transfer decision

|

When the club were looking for Leighton Baines’ successor in the summer, Celtic’s Kieran Tierney was the hotly tipped favourite to end up at Goodison Park.

We walked away from the preliminary negotiations for the 12-cap Scotland international, though, once the price reached too high a margin, and opted for Barcelona reject Lucas Digne instead.

The French ace has been far from a reject on Merseyside, though, and is widely considered our Player of the Season ahead of Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson, our joint top goalscorers.

As for Tierney, he has made 34 appearances for the Hoops in all competitions, scoring once, but has not recorded an assist.

With a few months now passing since we brought discussions with Celtic to a halt, one fan on the R/Everton Reddit page decided to start a thread discussing how lucky we were that the board refused to pay £25million for Tierney, and instead landed Digne for £18m.
