Club figure hints at potential Everton move for 22-year-old attacker

Quoted by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Santos figurehead Jose Carlos Peres has suggested that Everton are taking a closer look at winger Jefferson Soteldo who currently plays for their club.

The Blues are hopefully going to be busy in the summer window as they look to build a squad that can compete in Europe on a regular basis under manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Surely, the Italian is going to be eager to spend some money and you’d have thought that those in the boardroom are going to back him, having got someone of his calibre in in the first place.

Players are going to be linked, then, and it seems as though the 22-year-old attacker is one of the latest.

Playing for Santos, he can either feature out wide on the left or play a little more centrally in behind a main striker, with his diminutive stature giving him a low centre of gravity and therefore tricky, quick ability when on the ball.

Clearly, he’d need to adapt to the Premier League and there are always question marks over players that have not played at this level before but he has talent and the likes of Bernard and Richarlison may be able to help with him settling in with their South American background.

He comes from Venezuela and we’ve got plenty of players that come from that area so, in that sense, any bedding in issues could be negated – though nothing is guaranteed.

Let’s see if the Blues end up doing it.
