The young midfielder is wanted by Everton and Manchester City after impressing during a season long stint in the Premiership last season.
Everton have rekindled their long standing interest in the player after a move for Lucho Gonzalez was rebuffed by FC Porto, and Sven Goran Eriksson remains keen to add much needed class to his Manchester City team.
Everton are the latest club to reportedly make an offer for the Portuguese international, but the club who own 50% of his playing rights, Benfica, remain keen to keep hold of him.
A spokesman for the club told Sky Sports;
‘The player has a deal with us and it does not enter our plans to see him exit this summer.’
And Fernandes seems happy with the club’s decision also.
He said;
‘I am happy at Benfica and now I am only thinking about a good season ahead.’
