Speculation surrounding the reported RB Leipzig offer of £12million for Everton youngster Ademola Lookman took a new twist earlier this afternoon.
The original piece was carried by the Mirror as to save overly repeating myself, the claim was we’d knocked back an opening salvo of only £12million for the 20-year-old’s services following his loan out with them last season.
No Wings In German Bid For Everton Youngster – At Least Yet
I posited simply that given the sum we signed him for and his clear potential we would only be looking to deal if an offer of at least £15million came in for him. Plenty on social media believe we should be holding out for a lot more than that in the current market with prices both being speculated about but also paid these days for players.
If it’s a genuine bid, it’s to probably test the water – these games are played and Everton may or may not be interested in selling him at any price, Marco Silva might believe he can get the best out of him.
I did, however, find some of the reactions quite amusing to the original story, but what really grabbed my attention was the Mirror writer joining in on the thread.
Journalists can often make easy pickings – sites like this prove that if you read enough comments – but I was left quietly impressed with his responses.
