Everton are suffering an injury crisis in midfield. The Toffees are already without Jean-Philippe Gbamin (thigh) & Andre Gomes (ankle) and could now be without Beni Baningime too.

The 21-year-old was substituted in the first-half of Everton’s EFL Trophy clash with Fleetwood Town after being on the receiving end of a bad challenge. Tyler Onyango replaced him minutes before the break.

Everton lost the game 4-0 at Goodison Park and have yet to give an official injury update on Baningime, but the club will be hoping it’s nothing serious. The central midfielder recently started training with the first-team again and was selected in the matchday squad against Norwich City (November 23).

The last thing Baningime needs is an injury layout ruining his chances of representing the senior side this season. Marco Silva is already short on options in the engine room ahead of Sunday’s trip to Leicester City.

Gbamin has undergone surgery on his quadriceps and isn’t likely to return until the New Year. Gomes broke his ankle and is just hoping to be back before the season comes to a close. This could have been Baningime’s chance to get minutes on the pitch, but he may have some recovering to do first.
