Report: Besiktas manager ‘approves’ signing £60k-per-week Everton man in January

|

According to Aksam, Besiktas manager Abdullah Avcı ‘approves’ signing Cenk Tosun in January. The 28-year-old has been short of playing time at Everton and may have to join a club willing to give him more opportunities if he’s to remain an important player in the Turkish national team ahead of Euro 2020.

Tosun has made six appearances in all competitions this season, scoring just one goal. The £60k-per-week man has racked up only 247 minutes of football, however, and has Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison & Moise Kean fighting for a starting place.

Everton have actively tried to sell Tosun, but he’s been adamant on staying at Goodison Park to fight for minutes under Marco Silva. The 28-year-old turned down a move to Galatasaray and Qatar over the summer, but he may be open to leaving in January if he’s on the periphery.

Should Everton sell Cenk Tosun?

Yes

No

Besiktas want another striker alongside Buruk Yilmaz to fire the side to Super Lig glory, as Avcı’s men currently sit fifth in the table after 12 games, having scored just 15 goals. The Turkish giants are three points adrift of leaders Sivasspor, and Avcı believes the addition of Tosun could be a game-changer. Time will tell if they’re successful.
