“We should follow suit” – These Everton fans react to “disgraceful” decision

|

A few Everton fans have been reacting on social media after it was shared that the Blues have been awarded a reduced allocation for our trip to Liverpool next month.

As per the club’s official website, we have been awarded 2,749 tickets for the derby clash at Anfield on December 4.

Part of our allocation also includes restricted view seats, while 12 of the allocated amount are designated for wheelchair bays.

Our trip to Anfield last season also saw ticket numbers reduced to 2,749 due to persistent standing in the away sections at matches – marking a significant reduction on what would have been a normal allocation for such a game.

The decision was made by the city council following advice from the safety advisory group, who also reduced Liverpool’s allocation at Goodison Park in 2018 to 2,892.

Premier League rules state that travelling clubs must be awarded at least 3,000 tickets if the home side’s stadia holds 30,000 or lower spectators, while anything higher would mean visiting sides are allotted 10% of the ground’s capacity.

Following Liverpool’s redevelopment of the Main Stand at Anfield, the stadium can host 54,074 spectators on a match day, which would offer away fans at least double the allocation of what we have received for next month’s fixture.

Where do we need to improve in January?
